Health Physics Society update
Howdy y’all. It’s early spring down here in Texas and the bluebonnets are in full bloom thanks to abundant winter rains.
Health Physics Society (HPS) mid-year meeting recap
HPS hosted their 2019 mid-year meeting in San Diego, CA, February 17 to 20, 2019. At least five CRPA members attended and braved the unusually wet and cool weather (well, for Southern California, that is). The meeting had a military focus.
Upcoming HPS meeting
The annual HPS meeting will be held in Orlando, FL, July 7 to 11, 2019. The weather is guaranteed to be hot and humid. Bring a rain poncho and your credit cards if you want to visit one or more of the four Disney theme parks. More info can be found on the HPS website (http://hps.org/meetings/meeting47.html)
Some of you Western Canadians might want to check out an HPS chapter meeting and/or event. An HPS chapter is a geographical subset, generally with much smaller and shorter meetings/events. Here is a listing of some HPS chapters in the West that are somewhat close to the Canadian border. (Unfortunately, not all of their websites are up to date.):
- Cascade Chapter (Western Washington)
- Columbia Chapter (Eastern Washington)
- Eastern Idaho Chapter
- North Central Chapter (Minnesota)
A list of all the HPS chapters can be found at http://hps.org/aboutthesociety/organization/chapters.html.
