Habiliter les femmes dans le nucléaire : occasions d’apprentissage, de mentorat et de leadership
Women in Nuclear Canada (WiN Canada) is a national, not-for-profit network that is part of the Women in Nuclear Global movement, dedicated to promoting public understanding of nuclear energy and radiation technologies while supporting the professional growth and leadership of women working across the sector. Through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, outreach, and professional development opportunities, WiN Canada connects a diverse membership spanning technical, regulatory, medical, academic, and business disciplines.
The organization’s growing national network includes regional chapters in Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan (Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan, or WIM/WiN-SK), and Manitoba, creating local communities that advance collaboration and engagement across Canada’s nuclear and radiation-related industries. Chapters regularly host in-person events and webinars. Membership is free and everyone is welcome. You can learn more on the WiN Canada website.
Here’s a sample of what’s been happening at WiN Canada recently:
- On March 30, the WiN Bruce Chapter hosted an online conversation about moving from AI-curious to AI-empowered—what that shift looks like in practice and where people are finding real value.
- Also in March, WiN Canada proudly recognized International Women’s Day by embracing the theme “Give to Gain.” In partnership with the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries and Amelia Alliance, we brought together leaders from across the sector for a virtual conversation about mentorship, leadership, and building stronger pathways for women in nuclear. - On March 25, WiN Canada further celebrated International Women’s Day by bringing professionals, allies, and supporters from across the nuclear sector together in Toronto for an inspiring in-person evening dedicated to connection, recognition, and progress. Together, we celebrated the remarkable contributions of women in our industry and the continued advancement of diversity and inclusion across the field. The evening featured networking, entertainment, a keynote address from The Honourable Marci Ien, and a reception to connect with peers and colleagues.
WiN Canada offers a wide range of programs and opportunities, including mentoring, scholarships, outreach, professional development, and networking, designed to support members at every stage of their careers. Whether you are new to the field or a seasoned professional, there are many ways to connect, contribute, and grow within the community. We invite you to get involved, engage with your local chapter, and become part of a network working to strengthen and advance Canada’s nuclear and radiation-related sectors.

Cet article présente Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada, un réseau national sans but lucratif dédié à la promotion de la compréhension du public de l’énergie nucléaire et des rayonnements tout en soutenant les femmes dans le secteur. Partout au Canada, les sections de WiN organisent des activités en personne et en ligne comme leur récent webinaire de formation sur l’IA et diverses célébrations de la Journée internationale des femmes. L’article souligne les occasions de formation continue, de perfectionnement professionnel et de mentorat offertes aux membres de WiN et encourage les lecteurs et lectrices à s’y joindre (gratuitement).
Sarah Charuk
Sarah est la directrice des communications de Conexus Nuclear. Elle y travaille depuis 2021. Sarah a plus de 15 ans d’expérience à des postes de direction dans le domaine des communications, y compris comme directrice des communications chez Northland Power, un producteur mondial d’énergie durable. Elle a aussi travaillé avec GS1 Canada, une organisation mondiale de normalisation, Element Fleet Management, et le gouvernement de l’Ontario. Sarah possède une maîtrise en gestion des communications de l’Université McMaster et un baccalauréat en études politiques de l’Université Queens. Elle est membre du conseil d’administration de WiN Canada depuis octobre 2023. À ce poste, elle est responsable de l’avancement du programme de communications et marketing de l’organisation pour favoriser des communications efficaces avec tous les membres de WiN Canada et atteindre les objectifs stratégiques de WiN Canada.
