Howdy y’all. Summer came early in South Texas . . . at least temperature wise (low 30 degrees by early May, which kept my A/C humming away).
Health Physics Society Annual Meeting
Health Physics Society (HPS) is continuing their hybrid meeting theme: both in-person and online (although, ironically, they are charging more to attend virtually). HPS is holding its annual meeting in Spokane, WA, (a few hours’ drive south of the border) July 17 to 21, 2022. Details can be found on the HPS website.
State of Texas Chapter Student Meeting
My home chapter, the State of Texas Chapter, conducted their first in-person meeting since 2019 in late April at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. It was a combination of a medical imaging theme (seven talks), student presentations (three graduate school and one Texas state science fair high school winner), and three affiliate presentations. Attendance was down quite a bit with several organizations still restricting travel. Cash prizes were awarded.
Sasky Pack Update
Now that the author is working part time, Sasky (the backpack Scott received when he attended the CRPA annual conference in Saskatoon in 2017) is travelling a bit more. Here are two pics from last year’s travels, one on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands and one from the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Sasky hopes to return to Vancouver, Canada, in early November for ICRP 2021+1.

Scott Nichelson
Scott NichelsonSpécialiste certifié en radioprotection et hygiéniste industriel, Scott Nichelson a amorcé sa carrière en santé et en sécurité pour la US Air Force au milieu des années 1980. Il a pris sa retraite après 28 années de service actif et travaille présentement comme instructeur civil pour le Département de la santé et l’école de l’armée américaine à San Antonio, au Texas. Grand partisan de l’équipe de basketball des Spurs de San Antonio (NBA), il s’est joint à l’ACRP en 2002.
