Webinar Series: Dose Limits for the Lens of the Eye / Série de webinaires : Limites de dose pour le cristallin

Depuis les modifications de 2011 apportées aux limites de dose pour le cristallin et recommandées par la Commission internationale de protection radiologique (CIPR), la science sous-jacente aux modifications, les défis de l’implantation associés aux limites de dose inférieure et la dosimétrie du cristallin ont nourri bien des discussions et généré beaucoup d’intérêt. Pour étudier ces questions, l’Association canadienne de la radioprotection et la Commission canadienne de sûreté nucléaire ont rassemblé des conférenciers experts de partout dans le monde pour créer une série de webinaires en 2018.
Following changes in 2011 to the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recommended dose limits for the lens of the eye, there has been much interest and discussion regarding the science supporting the change, implementation challenges associated with the lower dose limits, and dosimetry for the lens of the eye.
To explore these issues, the Canadian Radiation Protection Association (CRPA) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) co-hosted a webinar series on dose limits for the lens of the eye. The three webinars brought together expert speakers from around the world to discuss the following topics:
- Scientific basis for ICRP’s recommended dose limits for the lens of the eye (March 21, 2018)
- Implementation of ICRP’s dose limits for the lens of the eye (September 27, 2018)
- Dosimeters for the lens of the eye (June 6, 2019)
Radiation protection professionals from around the globe viewed the webinars. Some took advantage of this opportunity to pose questions to the expert speakers. It was clear from the level of interest and the feedback we received that radiation protection professionals are taking measures to assess and optimize doses to the lens of the eye.
