Editor’s Message, June 2024

Grant Cubbon Deputy EditorWelcome to the 2024 conference edition of the CRPA Bulletin!

As I write this, preparations for the 2024 CRPA Annual Conference are nearing completion. The organizing committee in Edmonton has done an amazing job putting together an excellent program.

The annual conference is a special event for our association. It’s a chance to meet colleagues from across the country (and beyond) who specialize in various disciplines within radiation protection. Learning from their successes, the things that went wrong, and the future plans of organizations across Canada provides ideas we can incorporate into our own radiation protection procedures and programs.

Another benefit of the conference is the chance to get to know others from across the country. There will be many specialists at a CRPA conference willing to share their insights. I encourage you to introduce yourself to others, ask questions, and make a point of attending the great talks, the AGM, and the awards banquet, and (of course) to check in at the hospitality suite! The time spent networking will be worth it.

This edition of the Bulletin has several articles that I’m sure will be of interest to our readers. An article from InterActions, the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) newsletter, abstracts from the three Anthony J. MacKay Student Paper Contest finalists, and an article about radon exposure guidelines from the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists are updates I hope you will find interesting. We always appreciate feedback on any of the articles published, and welcome new articles from any of our members.

I look forward to seeing you all in Edmonton at CRPA 2024.
